Um Garðabæjarlistann
Garðabæjarlistinn var stofnaður árið 2018 með stuðningi fjögurra stjórnmálaflokka: Samfylkingar, VG, Bjartrar framtíðar og Viðreisnar. Við fengum þrjá bæjarfulltrúa kjörna í sveitarstjórnarkosningunum 2018 og vorum eini minnihlutaflokkurinn í bæjarstjórn og nefndum Garðabæjar kjörtímabilið 2018-2022.
Í sveitarstjórnarkosningunum 14. maí 2022 buðum við fram lista sem samanstóð af fólki úr Samfylkingunni, VG, Pírötum og fjölda óháðra einstaklinga. Garðabæjarlistinn hefur á kjörtímabilinu 2022-2026 fulltrúa í öllum stærstu nefndum bæjarins og tvo bæjarfulltrúa, þau Þorbjörgu Þorvaldsdóttur og Ingvar Arnarson.
Fyrir kosningar vorið 2026 ákvað Garðabæjarlistinn að bjóða fram án nokkurrar tengingar við landspólitík, og göngum því óháð og frjáls til kosninga. Við erum út frá stefnumálum okkar frjálslynt félagshyggjuafl, en spönnum þó ansi vítt pólitískt svið. Garðabæjarlistinn er það heilbrigða og lýðræðislega mótvægi sem þarf gagnvart þeim meirihluta sem hefur ráðið ríkjum í Garðabæ síðan hann varð til.

Garðabæjarlistinn was founded in 2018 with the support of four political parties: Samfylkingin, VG, Björt framtíð and Viðreisn. We got three council members elected in the 2018 local elections and were the only minority on the town council and committees in 2018-2022.
In the elections on 14 May 2022 we offered a list that was composed of people from Samfylkingin (social democrats), Vinstri græn (left green party), The Pirate Party and unaligned citizens. Garðabæjarlistinn has elected members in all larger committees and two council members, Þorbjörg Þorvaldsdóttir and Ingvar Arnarson, serving in the period 2022-2026.
Before the elections of 2026, we decided to run with no affiliation to the political parties in parliament; and we are therefore free and independent. Based on our priorities we are social liberals but we encompass a wide political spectrum. Garðabæjarlistinn is the healthy and democratic counterweight that’s needed against the majority which has run Garðabær since it was founded as a municipality.
